geography

course

The Schlimmergraben emerges from a sewer structure at the western foot of the embankment of Bundesstraße 3 near Darmstadt-Arheilgen and flows in a general westward direction. It first crosses the open fields Am Ettester , then a rain retention basin in the Benzenwiese and then reaches the Teufelshölle forest in the Weiterstadt district , where the Storke-Brünnchen flows from the north-east from the forest restaurant of the same name. At the northern edge of the forest, the Schlimmergraben crosses the Weiterstädter Landstrasse coming from Arheilgen and the Münchweg ( Kreisstrasse 165 ) that branches off from it to the north . 200 meters further you will cross under the state road 3113 and after another 200 meters the run will pass under the BAB 5 .

Outside the forest, the Schlimmergraben, as its name suggests, is built like a trench . The stream now passes the Ostend settlement and then runs towards Weiterstadt train station . Here the course disappears in an underground hollow and crosses under the Mainz-Darmstadt railway line to the west of the train station , which separates the city of Weiterstadt in the south from the neighboring town of Braunshardt to the north . Only after a few hundred meters does the streambed west of the railway underpass of the Büttelborner Weg (L 3094) come to light again. The Weiterstadt sewage treatment plant was built on its south side , for which the ditch serves as a receiving water . The surname Brühlgraben is common up to that point. The ditch only carries water all year round below the water discharge from the sewage treatment plant; from here on it is called Schlimmergraben .

Between Weiterstadt and Büttelborn, the Schlimmergraben accompanies the northern edge of the Braunshardter Tännchen and the Riedwerke district waste dump in the Groß-Gerau district . At the entrance to it, it crosses under federal highway 42 at an acute angle . Before the eastern outskirts of Büttelborn it forks; The southern arm with the water code number 2398656 runs underground over a length of 1.9 km through the location and then reaches the Büttelborn sewage treatment plant, where it flows into the Landgraben , while the northern main arm in a large arc north around the Büttelborn junction of the federal motorway 67 and the local situation leads around and finally on the western edge of Büttelborn from the northeast and right and 400 meters downstream also flows to the Landgraben .
