The Schloßgrundgraben or Schloßgraben is a right tributary of the Kahl in the district of Aschaffenburg in the Bavarian Spessart .
geography
course
The Schloßgrundgraben rises southeast of the Hauenstein farm in a spring pond. It flows to the southwest and takes in another stream that rises northwest of the courtyard. Hauenstein Castle once stood on the hill between the two streams , of which only a cellar with walls and a barrel vault, as well as the rest of the adjoining walls, can be seen today. At that time, the brook was dammed into a moat , which is why the castle ground moat got its name. In the further course it reaches the Mensengesäßer Weiher, which are fed by part of its water. The Schloßgrundgraben crosses the Kahl – Schöllkrippen railway line and flows into the Kahl .
