history
Local nobility have been in Fünfstetten since 12/13. Century. The lords of Vinastetten , who lived in the Alt-Herren-Häusle , were ministerials to the Counts of Graisbach . The current castle developed from the old mansion house over the course of time through additions and renovations. From around the 14th century to 1620 the castle was owned by the Knights of Wemding . Baron Hans Sebastian Speth von Zwiefalten bought the property around 1650. In 1762 Baron Franz Maximilian von Rehlingen became lord of the castle. After more than 40 years, Baron Carl Friedrich Stephan von Schönfeld acquired the castle, and in 1817 he was made Count of Otting and Fünfstetten. In 1856 Maximilian Joseph Graf Ottingen-Fünfstetten sold the property to Friedrich Adam Schwarz from Pappenheim . Another sale followed in 1859 to the major industrialist Heinrich Oskar Abbreviation from Crimmitschau . In 1905, a newly founded buying and selling cooperative for real estate acquired the palace area, which was sold to the Order of the Franciscan Sisters by Maria Stern in 1907 at a low price.
Since then, the castle has been used as a monastery and nursing home for the Franciscan nuns of Maria Stern . Accordingly, many extensions and modifications were made. The castle / monastery is surrounded by a large park. The grotto in the park is open to the public. A limited view of the park is possible from there.
In 2014 the monastery and nursing home was dissolved and became the private property of a local family.
