The Hornhausen Castle is a Grade II listed building in Hornhausen , a district of Oschersleben in the district Borde in Saxony-Anhalt . In the local register of monuments , the castle is listed as a monument under registration number 094 56324 .

history

The castle was the ancestral seat of the von Hornhausen family and arose from a moated castle . The current building on Burgplatz was built in 1666 and changed hands several times. The palace park was created in 1767 and was laid out on behalf of Wilhelm von der Schulenburg . An annex was added to the building in the second half of the 19th century. Around 1900 the palace park was expanded to an area of ​​1.2  hectares . The palace complex was after the end of World War II to a circle Feierabendheim and since 1991 a nursing home of the German Red Cross .

The castle is a simple two-storey rectangular building, which is surrounded by a partially bricked and flooded moat. The entrance portal in the Renaissance style with the coat of arms of the couple who built it is a special decorative element of the complex.

The castle is located on the north-eastern outskirts, at Am Park 2 . The associated castle park is located northwest to northeast of the castle. The Goldbach flows through the park from the north towards the south, which flows into the Bode via the Fillergraben and the Grosse Graben .
