The Rosstal Castle is a former castle on the site of a former medieval castle on the marketplace in Roßtal in the district Fürth in Bavaria .
history
From 1108 to 1138 a family of Roßtal ministers was mentioned. The castle in Roßtal was first mentioned in 1292 when the lords of Heideck (Heydeck) acquired the castle estate along with other Roßtal possessions. In 1356 the knight Burckhard von Seckendorff-Horuf received the castle property as a castle-counts fief , in 1407 the knights of Wolmershausen became fiefs of the Roßtaler castle estate, which they owned until 1623.
In 1450 the castle was destroyed in the course of the First Margrave War. In 1623 a new castle was built, a three-storey saddle roof building with tow and bat dormers, the ground and first floors of which are solidly plastered. The second floor and the east gable have exposed half-timbering. From 1692 to 1735 Gabriel von Furtenbach and Lorenz von Schmiedl were named as castle owners. Today the former castle building serves as a residential building.
