Today's Roman Catholic branch church and castle chapel St. Wolfgang is located directly on the Naab in the district of the same name, Heitzenhofen von Duggendorf .

history

The current palace chapel was built around 1715 by the lord of the royal court, Ignaz von Kuchler, possibly not until 1735 by Baron von Strahl (perhaps the church was only refurbished by him). There was previously a Holy Cross Chapel here , which was already referred to as ruinosa in 1665 . Today's church is dedicated to St. Consecrated to Wolfgang von Regensburg .

In 1880 the castle church was in a precarious condition, presumably because it was rarely used. The dilapidated roof turret was renewed at that time and in 1884–1886 the whole church was renovated. Back then, the painter Anton Bachl from Schwandorf redesigned the altars. Towards the end of the Second World War , the roof of the church was damaged when the nearby bridge was blown up and all windows were destroyed. In 1949 this damage was repaired again.

Construction and equipment

The church is an eaves-standing hall building with a retracted choir and a roof turret with an onion dome .

The high altar from 1736 inside the church is designed in the early rococo style. It has four columns and an attachment. The wooden figure of St. Mary with the child dates from the 15th century. As elsewhere, the child is represented with an apple in his right hand. The figures of St. Joseph (right) and St. Francis of Assisi (left), this is depicted with a skull and a crucifix. The inscription Andreas Hasreiter BBB 1736 is on the back of the altar . It is unknown whether this is the name of an artist or a donor. On the altar extract is a picture of St. Wolfgang as well as a prospectus of the Hofmarksschloss. The right side altar is dedicated to St. Dedicated to John of Nepomuk , the left to St. Philomena . Both date from around 1870.

The pulpit dates from 1735. It is decorated with bandwork carvings . The sound cover is crowned by a Holy Spirit dove .

The church stalls have foliage carvings and date from 1715 to 1720. There is a copy of the famous Maria Hilf picture from Passau on the gallery . A new organ was built into the historic organ case in 1992 by the organ building company August Hartmann from Regensburg .

On the north side wall are the tombstones of Johannes Josephus de Kuchler and Maria Isabella de Kuchlerin with an alliance coat of arms.
