Schodno is a hamlet in Gmina Dziemiany ( Dzimianen ), Powiat Kościerski ( Berent district ) in northern Poland . Geographically, Schodno is in the middle of the Pomeranian Lake District , in the Kashubian Forests about seventy kilometers southwest of Danzig (Gdańsk) and about eighty west of Marienburg ( Malbork ). Historically and culturally, it belongs to the Kashubian region .
Schodno is characterized as a rural settlement with a few farms and a few houses, the latter mostly simple holiday homes. The number of inhabitants is officially given as 22. A small lake belongs to the place, Lake Schodno (Jezioro Schodno).
The only institutional facility in Schodno is an old dwarf school , which was founded at the end of the 19th century as part of the introduction of compulsory schooling in order to provide the rural population with a basic education. Until the First World War i. d. Usually young teachers are employed as village teachers at the school in Schodno for two years immediately after the teachers' seminar. Today the building is a country school home with a focus on nature and ecology for children from the larger cities in the area and into the Gdansk region.
