history

The area of today's Powiat Kościerski (" Berent District ") belonged to the German province of West Prussia until 1920 and had to be ceded to Poland after the First World War due to the provisions of the Versailles Treaty for the purpose of setting up the Polish Corridor , which it then to its Voivodeship Großpommerellen affiliated.
