The Swabian Home Calendar was a people's calendar that was published by Kohlhammer Verlag in Stuttgart .

The calendar was founded in 1884 under the title Schwabenkalender as an instructive and entertaining calendar for young and old at Kohlhammer Verlag, where it was published continuously until the end. The first edition in 1884 was available in an elegantly bound format for 5 marks and contained practical information such as market dates and cooking recipes as well as literary and popular scientific contributions. The first edition also contained an article by Michel Buck on Our Family Names and the Swabian ballad Herzog Ulrichs Linde by the poet Karl Doll.

Until 1942 (59th year) the calendar appeared under its original title Schwabenkalender . After a war-related interruption of the calendar was to the previously in NS-Kurier-Verlag published Swabian Heimatkalender combines that with Hans Reyhing same editor had. It has been published under this title since its 60th year in 1949. The calendar was discontinued with the 2018 edition.

Earlier editors of the calendar were the local poet Hans Reyhing (1920–61), the writer Karl Götz (1962–83), the author Heinz-Eugen Schramm (1984–) and the poet and satirist Karl Napf (1993–2008).

The calendar, which was last published as a brochure , covered 128 pages with topics relating to regions and customs in Swabia .

The actual calendar of the Swabian home calendar contained the dates of city and traditional festivals, exhibitions, trade fairs, sporting events and markets, birthdays and deaths of famous people, weather rules from the centenary calendar and a lunar calendar . The calendar also contained articles about excursion and holiday destinations, culture, events and exhibitions. Each year the calendar had a different focus.

The calendar, which last appeared in a print run of approx. 6000 copies, was published from 2009 by the former SWR editor and presenter Wolfgang Walker in cooperation with the Swabian Albverein , the Swabian Heimatbund , the rural women’s association Württemberg-Baden , the NABU Baden -Wuerttemberg and the Black Forest Association . In addition to the publisher, the editorial team was composed of employees of the publishing house, freelance journalists and officials or employees of the associations and organizations involved. Wilfried Setzler was one of the permanent members of the editorial team .
