Schwartenpohl is a former municipality in the Grafschaft Bentheim district in Lower Saxony . The place with about 180 inhabitants is located northeast of Wietmarschen. The A 31 runs to the east . To the north is the Dalum-Wietmarscher Moor nature reserve . Schwartenpohl belongs to the unitary community of Wietmarschen .
history
The place Schwartenpohl was founded on December 8, 1764 in the area of the municipality Dalum in Niederstift Münster on the southern edge of the Bourtanger Moor. From 1867 to 1934 Schwartenpohl belonged to the office or district of Meppen, then to the district of Lingen.
From 1910 to 1974 the place was an independent municipality. In 1974 it was incorporated into the Wietmarschen community.
There was a Catholic elementary school from 1925 to 1972.
The Schwartenpohl volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1942.
From 1951 to 1991 there was an inn on the road from Wietmarschen to Dalum.
In 1961/62 Schwartenpohl was connected to the central water supply of the Niedergrafschaft water supply association in Neuenhaus.
The Schwartenpohl settlement was established in 1966.
From 2004 to 2012, the village renewal was gradually designed with EU funds and other grants.
Culture and sights
Social life
A central meeting point for the district and its guests is the fire station with a large assembly room and the adjacent sports field on Altschwartenpohl street .
Landmark
As part of the village renewal, the bell tower with the bell of the primary school was built next to the playground opposite the settlement (today Dorfstraße / Altschwartenpohl). This bell tower has become Schwartenpohl's landmark.

Schwartenpohl is located on the A 31 (junction 24 Wietmarschen), on the L 67 (Dalumer Allee), on the K 33 (Nordstrasse), on the K 35 (Nord-Süd-Strasse and Süd-Nord-Strasse) and on the K 38 (Siedlerstrasse).
The cycle paths are connected to the supra-regional cycle paths of the Grafschaft Bentheim (Grafschafter Fietsentour) and the district of Emsland (Emsland network).
