Schwarz-Gelb Unna (officially: Spiel- und Sportverein Schwarz-Gelb Unna 07 eV ) was a sports club from Unna . The first soccer team played a year in the highest Westphalian amateur league.

history

The club was formed in 1907 as a spin-off from the Unna gymnastics club, which was founded in 1867 . Initially, black and yellow was a pure football club. The handball and athletics departments were added later.

Soccer

In terms of sport, the team was initially overshadowed by local rivals SC Unna 08 , who played first-rate at times in the early 1930s. In 1950 the tide turned when black and yellow rose to the newly created 2nd regional league. After the dissolution of the league in 1952 , the Unnaer had to return to the district class as bottom of the table. Three years later, he was promoted to the state league, which was the highest amateur league in Westphalia at the time. As the bottom of the table in the 1955/56 season, black and yellow missed the newly created association league by lengths, but remained the state division. A year later the Unnaer were again bottom of the table and returned to the district class. In 1960 they were promoted again, but this time, too, the prompt relegation followed as bottom of the table. Only after the third league ascent in 1967 succeeded in relegation, although it went down again two years later.

athletics

Heinrich Fröhling was third in the triple jump at the German athletics championships in 1959 , 1962 and 1963 . Fritz Hannig became German youth champion in the 400-meter run in 1950 .

On July 1, 1970, Schwarz-Gelb Unna merged with SC Unna 08 to form Rot-Weiß Unna . This club started in the district league and immediately rose to the state league. In 1978, the Red and White were runner-up behind Teutonia Lippstadt and rose to the league. After many years in midfield, the Unnaer were relegated in 1987, but returned straight away. The greatest sporting success was the sixth place in the 1990/91 season. A year later, the red and whites rose again, before three relegations in five years led the club in 1999 in the district league B. In the meantime returned to the district league A, the team fell in 2011 to the district league C, the lowest division.

After two promotions in a row, Rot-Weiß played in the district league A since 2015. Two years later, under strange circumstances, the promotion to the district league was achieved, which the club's second team ensured. But as early as 2019, the red-whites had to leave the district league down again.

Rot-Weiß Unna produced three Bundesliga players: Hartmut Fromm , Peter Peschel and Giuseppe Reina . With Guido Silberbach , an ex-professional was active for Rot-Weiß Unna. The futsal team CF Deportivo Unna plays under the umbrella of Rot-Weiß Unna .
