The black-tailed shoreline rocker ( Cinclodes atacamensis ) is a species of bird in the family of potters . There are two subspecies: Cinclodes a. atacamensis ( Peru , Bolivia , Chile ) and Cinclodes a. schocolatinus ( Argentina ).

features

It reaches a length of 20-23 cm. The length of the tail is 8 cm and the length of the beak is 2.2 cm. The back, the crown, the eye stripe and the wings are chestnut colored. There is a white head section between the eye stripe and the crown of the head. The dark brown tail has a black tip. The wings are banded in white and have black hand wings. The throat is white, the chest and lower abdomen are reddish brown. The legs are red meat.

Occurrence and habitat

The home of the blacktail shore wipper is Peru ( Lima and Junín ), Bolivia ( La Paz , Oruro , Potosi and Cochabamba ), Chile (near the cities of Coquimbo and Santiago de Chile ) and northern Argentina (up to the mountainous regions of Córdoba and Catamarca ). Its habitat are places with bush and grass vegetation near rivers. It occurs at altitudes of 2200 to 5000 m. It feeds on worms, larvae, small crustaceans and other small animals.

Reproduction

It nests in rock niches or in burrows. The nest consists of two to four white eggs with a slight sheen.
