Scott Thwaites (born February 12, 1990 in Burley (Wharfedale) ) is a British mountain bike, cyclocross and road cyclist.

Athletic career

Scott Thwaites finished third in the youth class at the British Cyclocross Championship in Abergavenny in 2005 . The next year he was runner-up in this class and in 2007 he finished second in the junior class race. In 2009 he was the British Cross Country Champion on mountain bike .

Thwaites drove on the road for the British Continental Team Endura Racing , which was merged with the German professional Continental Team NetApp-Endura in 2013 . In 2011 he became British U23 road racing champion . In 2014, Thwaites won the bronze medal as part of the English selection at the Commonwealth Games road race in Glasgow . 139 drivers had started in this race, of which only twelve made it to the finish line due to heavy rain. With the Vuelta a España 2016 he contested his first Grand Tour and finished the tour in 107th overall.

For the 2017 season, Thwaites moved to the South African UCI WorldTeam Dimension Data , for which he finished 107th in the UCI WorldTour race Strade Bianche and the Tour de France in the first year . In March 2018, he broke a vertebra in a training crash and was out for much of the season. Afterwards, in view of contacts to other cycling teams, but also offers outside of cycling, he considered ending his career as an athlete.
