The Seacht'n (pronounced: sixth) is a pond landscape in the Upper Bavarian municipality of Andechs between the villages of Erling and Machtlfing in the Fünfseenland . It is the remnant of a larger, silted pond that it left as a Kesselmoor . The water surface, which is normally around 2.8 hectares, can dry up almost completely in the event of prolonged drought. This is also indicated by their name, which is used in the dialect of the region to describe shallow hollows filled with water.

The Seacht'n is located in the middle of the "Machtlfinger Hügelland" which surrounds the area between the Ammersee basin and the Würmsee basin. The charming landscape with its alternation of moraine hills and depressions was created towards the end of the Würm glacial period through the thrust of the Isar-Loisach glacier .

The members of the Andechs branch of the Federal Nature Conservation Association have been responsible for the protection and maintenance of flora and fauna in the FFH area since 1984 . Among other things, amphibian fences are set up by them at the beginning of the toad migration in spring , the animals are collected in the evening and brought over a country road. Since the vegetation around the ponds receives its nutrients exclusively from the air or rainwater, mainly frugal plants that have been adapted to the raised bog grow here, but they still require care.

In the summer months, thousands of butterflies and dragonflies , which find ideal living conditions here, are an attraction for hikers. In winter, on the other hand, the fast-freezing ponds of the Seacht'n are the target of athletes who meet for ice stick shooting .
