Jim Seals (born October 17, 1941 ) and Darrell "Dash" Crofts (born August 14, 1940 ) made music in various formations in Texas in the mid-1950s , before they joined the band The Champs in 1958 , which is currently a big one with tequila Had hit.
In 1966 the Champs broke up. Dash Crofts went back to Texas, Jimmy Seals formed the band The Dawnbreakers, which was unsuccessful.
In the early 1970s, the two came back together as a duo and in the fall of 1972 they had their first hit listing with Summer Breeze . Several hits followed up to 1978 in the style of Crosby, Stills and Nash and America , performed with two-part vocals and mostly sparsely orchestrated. Seals played guitar , saxophone and violin , Crofts guitar and mandolin . In her song Get Closer (1976), Carolyn Willis, who was previously successful with the band Honey Cone, sang the female voice.
Then they lost their record deal with Warner and retired from the music business for a while. Both became Baha'i in 1969 and now devoted themselves to this religion, which from then on also became the subject of their songs. Crofts lived in Mexico , Australia and Nashville , where he later made country music and had some hit singles with it. Jim Seals went to Costa Rica and has lived there on a coffee farm since 1980.
In 2003 the two came together for a comeback and released their first album in more than 20 years. An extensive tour of the United States followed in 2004 and 2005.
