Sebastian Aders

Sebastian Aders († July 19, 1649 ) was a Polish military engineer .

Life

Sebastian Aders came from Masuria .

In 1645 he was sent to the Crimea by the hetman Stanisław Koniecpolski to make a map of the area.

In 1647 he served as an artillery captain with Guillaume le Vasseur de Beauplan in Bar , who used his maps.

During the Khmelnytskyi uprising in 1648, he was commander of the town's infantry during the defense of Lviv . In 1649 he served as commander of the artillery at Tschowhanskyj Kamin and Sbarasch . He was fatally wounded in the battle of Sbarash.

Afterlife

In the novel With Fire and Sword by Henryk Sienkiewicz he is called Szenberk .
