Sebastian Currier
Sebastian Currier (born March 16, 1959 in Huntingdon , Pennsylvania , USA ) is an American composer.
Life
Currier grew up in Providence , Rhode Island in New England . His family is very musical, so his brother Nathan Currier is also a composer. Sebastian Currier graduated from both the Juilliard School and the Manhattan School of Music , both in New York City . From 1999 to 2007 he was Professor of Music at Columbia University in New York.

- 2013: Artist in Residence at the Institute for Advanced Study , Princeton .
- 2010: Distinguished Alumni Award from the Manhattan School of Music.
- 2007: Grawemeyer Award for Music Composition for his work Static .
- 1994: Rome Prize .
- 1992: Guggenheim Fellowship .
In 2016 he was elected a member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters .

- 1989: Clockwork for violin and piano.
- 1995: Ousted Set for string quartet.
- Crossfade for two harps.
- 1997: Microsymph “a symphony of 30 minutes that was compressed into 10 minutes” for orchestra.
- Completion of the orchestral composition of the 2nd symphony (1992) by Stephen Albert after his death.
- 2005: Nightmaze for chamber ensemble.
- Aftersong for violin, dedicated to Anne-Sophie Mutter .
- Static for chamber ensemble.
- 2006: piano concerto , for piano and orchestra; Premiere: April 2007, Emma Tahmizian on piano
- 2007: Time Machines , premiere: June 2, 2011, with Anne-Sophie Mutter, Roman Patkoló double bass, and the New York Philharmonic , conducted by Alan Gilbert . Was revised by the composer in 2011.
