Sebastian Erixon (born September 12, 1989 in Sundsvall ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with Färjestad BK in the Svenska Hockeyligan since April 2015 . His father Staffan was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Sebastian Erixon began his career as a hockey player in the youth department of Timrå IK , for whose professional team he was active from 2006 to 2011 in the Elitserien , the top Swedish division. During this period, he was also selected in the first round of the 2010 KHL Junior Draft as the eleventh player in total by SKA Saint Petersburg , for whom he did not play afterwards. Instead, the defender got a contract as a free agent with the Vancouver Canucks in April 2011 , for whose farm team Chicago Wolves he was on the ice in the American Hockey League in the 2011/12 season.

On February 27, 2012, the Vancouver Canucks transferred him to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for Andrew Gordon . After the Swede had played neither for the Californians nor for their farm team, the Syracuse Crunch , he returned to his homeland in June 2012 and signed a two-year contract with Timrå IK. This was dissolved in April 2013 and Erixon moved within the league to the Växjö Lakers , with whom he won the Swedish championship in the 2014/15 season . The Swede has been under contract with league competitor Färjestad BK since April 2015 .

International

For Sweden , Erixon took part in the 2007 U18 World Junior Championship and the 2009 U20 World Junior Championship . At the U18 World Cup in 2007 he and his team won the bronze medal, at the U20 World Cup in 2009 the silver medal.
