Sebastian Josef Mayrhofer

Sebastian Josef Mayrhofer (born October 28, 1776 in Kollmann , Tyrol ; † November 9, 1864 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian lawyer and Tyrolean freedom fighter.

history

He was an active fighter in the Battle of Bergisel in 1809. He was first a corporal in the student rifle company, then captain of the Villanders rifle company , then he became adjutant to Joachim Haspinger , one of the leaders of the uprising. He distinguished himself on August 4th and 5th 1809 in battles against the Saxon vanguard near Oberau, Colonel von Henning had to surrender to him ( Sachsenklemme near Oberau ). When the French Marshal Lefebvre attacked on August 13 , he defended again on Bergisel. In October he became captain of a company again and took part in an advance to Carinthia. He excelled in the battle on Lammersberg near Sachsenburg .

After the Treaty of Schönbrunn he left Tyrol and went to Vienna. There he received his doctorate in 1818. Jur. And became a lawyer in Salzburg in 1822, notary public in 1831. In 1851 he became president of the Salzburg Bar Association.
