Sebastian Omlor

Sebastian Omlor (* 1981 in Neunkirchen (Saar) ) is a German lawyer and professor at the Philipps University of Marburg .

Life

Omlor graduated from the Johanneum in Homburg in 2001 . After completing his community service, he began studying law at Saarland University in 2002 . During his studies he worked as a student assistant to Stephan Weth at his chair. In 2007 he passed his first state examination in law in Saarbrücken. Subsequently, Omlor worked at Michael Martinek's chair as a research assistant, and later, after his second state examination in 2010, as an academic adviser . He had completed his legal clerkship in the district of the higher regional court in Zweibrücken . In 2008 he had already obtained the title Master of European Laws in Saarbrücken . In 2009 he received his doctorate under Martinek. jur. This work received the CMS Hasche Sigle Prize. From 2011 to 2012, Omlor was a Research Assistant with Marcel Kahan at the School of Law at New York University . There he obtained the title Master of Laws in 2012 . He then returned to Saarland University, where he completed his habilitation in 2013 . This was accompanied by the granting of the license to teach the subjects of civil law, commercial, corporate and economic law, private international law, European law and comparative law.

In the 2013/14 winter semester and the following summer semester, he held a chair at the University of Heidelberg , and in the 2014/15 winter semester he moved to the University of Freiburg , where he also held a chair for a year. In the 2015/16 winter semester he received several calls for a full professorship. He turned down the calls from the EBS University of Economics and Law and the University of Halle-Wittenberg ; he accepted the call of the University of Marburg , where he has held the chair for civil law and comparative law ever since.
