Sebastian Stublinger (* around 1475 , † after 1529 ) was a Franconian legal scholar and Chancellor of the Mark Brandenburg from 1510 to 1529.

Life

Sebastian Stublinger came from Kulmbach , the Franconian home of the Brandenburg electors. He studied law in Bologna and received a doctorate in both rights . In 1509 or 1510 he was brought to Berlin as Chancellor by Elector Joachim I. Stublinger supported the elector in reforming a number of laws that took greater account of Roman law, which was widespread in the empire, instead of the traditional legal customs of the Mark.

He received a house in Berlin as a gift from the Elector (Breite Straße 32, former armory), and in 1514 he received the village of Rathstock im Oderbruch as a fief. He gave the house back in 1518. In 1527 Stublinger was probably the main author of the Constitutio Joachimica , in which the new law was laid down again.

In 1529 he was replaced. The year of his death is unknown.
