history

A royal court already existed in See during the Carolingian times . It can be assumed that the church of St. Martin in See is one of the oldest, numerous Martin churches founded here by the Carolingians (788–911). The surrounding area was developed from the Königshof See. Places such as B. Dettenhofen, Seibertshofen and Willenhofen point this out. This development took place along the Reichsstraße, which led through the valley of the Schwarzen Laber from Regensburg to Nuremberg and Bamberg.

The route from Regensburg through the valley of the Schwarzen Laaber towards the north has been documented since the 11th century. The place See is to be seen as the original parish of the area that was ruled by the Parsberg family (933–1730). There is evidence of Emperor Heinrich II's stay in See in 1007 . In 1114 a document from the bishops of Regensburg and Bamberg names the place Mertinesse (Martins-See). At that time the places Parsberg, Lupburg, Willenhofen and Granswang belonged to the parish See.

In the land registers from approx. 1231–1237, approx. 1285 and 1326, the church and bailiwick lake are assigned to the Velburg office, to which 2 lb bailiff's money was payable annually . In 1326 it is mentioned that a Zenger held the bailiwick at sea. In 1326 the knight Dietrich von Parsberg was granted the rights to Parsberg Castle by Emperor Ludwig the Bavarian . At the same time he gave him the bailiwick of the parish church in See. Later the Zenger house bought the bailiwick rights from the Lords of Parsberg. In 1422 Hans von Parsberg was able to buy back this bailiwick and the taxes from the parish See from the Regenstaufer Jörg Zenger. He had to pay Jörg Zenger 160 gulden.

On the post route from Regensburg via Neumarkt to Nuremberg, the taxic and later imperial imperial post office was founded in 1663 . The post route ran via Deining, Eichenhofen, Parsberg, See to Beratzhausen and Regensburg. Until it died out in 1730, the Lords of Parsberg retained their rights to the lake, where they owned various properties and properties.

From 1765, the Regensburg-Nuremberg postal route no longer ran via Laaber , See and Parsberg, but via Hemau and Daßwang, in accordance with the electoral decree . The earlier route across the Labertal lost its importance.

The former municipality of See with the villages of Seibertshofen, Niederhofen and Dettenhofen was incorporated into the market town of Lupburg in 1972.
