The Seeache is the natural outflow of the Mondsee , where the lake level control weir is located at See am Mondsee , and flows into the Attersee after 3 kilometers in Unterach am Attersee . It is responsible for 58% of the total surface inflow of the Attersee.

The river runs relatively straight from west to east and forms the border between the communities Unterach am Attersee in the north and St. Gilgen in the south, and thus also the state border between Upper Austria and Salzburg . In the area of the mouth, the lake is divided into two arms, with the smaller arm branching off to the left being artificially created.

The raging river has water quality classes I to II and is often used by athletes as a rafting river (difficulty: Levels I - II).

The pearl fish ( Rutilus meidingerii ) has settled in the lake . In addition, there are Seelaube , hazel , Rußnase , chub  and roach . The Seeache is visited by numerous fish species from the Attersee for spawning because it offers favorable conditions for the development of eggs and young fish.

Along the Seeache drove Electric Train Unterach Lake Mondsee ( "Under Acher tram"), from Stern & Hafferl built in 1907, the Maritime of the two lakes and running on the opposite shore of Lake Mondsee Salzkammergut local railway to connect, 1949, the operating discontinued and the tracks dismantled in 1951. Today the route is partly road, partly bike / hiking trail.
