The sea alpine cinquefoil ( Potentilla valderia ) is a species of the genus cinquefoil ( Potentilla ) within the rose family (Rosaceae).

Vegetative characteristics
The Seealpen cinquefoil is a perennial herbaceous plant (half rosette shrub). The rhizome is dark brown-black and covered with leaf remnants. The stem is 10 to 30, rarely up to 50 centimeters high, ascending upright, long protruding simply and covered with short glandular hairs. The basal leaves are five to seven-fold and petiolate. The leaflets are serrated, especially in the upper half, green or grayish on top and gray-tomentose hair on the underside. The leaf veins protrude somewhat. The stem leaves are shorter and more hairy.
Generative characteristics
There are several flowers per stem. The hermaphroditic flowers are radial symmetry . The outer calyx is narrower and about the length of the sepals. The petals are shorter than the calyx, 6 to 7 millimeters long and white. The stamens are hairy.
The flowering period extends from July to August.
Occurrence
Maritime cinquefoil is found in the French and Italian Maritime Alps . It grows on rocks and stony mountain meadows on silicate at altitudes of 1300 to 2400 meters.
