Segmüller is a southern German retail company in the furniture industry that was founded in 1925 by Hans Segmüller in Friedberg near Augsburg .
Segmüller originally manufactured upholstered frames , but around the end of the 1940s the production of upholstered furniture began. In 1954 the first sales branch was opened in Kaufingerstraße in Munich, followed by the one in Nürnberger Breiten Gasse in 1956 and the one in Frankfurt an der Konstablerwache in 1959. The company has been family-owned for three generations.
Today, the company says it employs around 4,000 people at eight locations, including around 300 in the upholstered furniture factory. The largest furniture store with more than 50,000 m² of exhibition space is that in Weiterstadt, followed by the main office in Friedberg with around 40,000 m². The truck fleet consists of around 300 vehicles.
In 2013 the furniture store chain Segmüller started its own online shop daheim.de to enter the eCommerce market.
In 2015 the comedian Willy Astor was heard in several Segmüller radio commercials. In 2016, Thomas Gottschalk was the company's advertising partner.
The company's sales for 2019 are estimated at € 1.1 billion.
In 2019, Wirecard introduced a mobile payment solution for cashless payment transactions .
