Ichinohe first appeared internationally at the 2012 Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck . There he won the bronze medal over 1500 m and the silver medal over 3000 m and in the mass start. He made his World Cup debut in November 2013 in Calgary , which he finished in 11th place in the team pursuit. At the Junior World Championships in Bjugn in 2014 he won the silver medal in the team pursuit and the following year in Warsaw the bronze medal in the team pursuit. He completed his first individual races in the World Cup at the end of January 2015 in Hamar , placing 22nd over 5000 m and 15th over 1500 m in group B. In the 2016/17 season he won the bronze medal over 5000 m and 10000 m at the Winter Asian Games 2017 in Obihiro and the silver medal over 5000 m at the Winter Universiade 2017 in Almaty . In December 2017 he achieved his first podium in the World Cup with second place in the team pursuit in Calgary. At the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang , he was ninth in the 5000 m and fifth in the team pursuit. In the 2018/19 season he finished in the top ten three times in the 1500 m World Cup, including second place in Tomaszów Mazowiecki and thus achieved fourth place in the 1500 m World Cup. He also won the team pursuit in Tomaszów Mazowiecki and came third in the team pursuit in Tomakomai . At the individual distance world championships in 2019 in Inzell , he finished fifth in the mass start and fourth in the 1500 m and team pursuit. The following season he was in Tomaszów Mazowiecki and in Nagano each second in the team pursuit. He won the silver medal in the team pursuit at the 2020 Individual Distance World Championships in Salt Lake City . He also achieved 14th place over 5000 m and sixth place over 1500 m. At the end of February 2020 he won the bronze medal in the four -way fight at the speed skating all- around world championship in Hamar in 2020 .
Ichinohe was Japanese champion in the 1500 m, 5000 m and mass start in 2019.
