The Hochland section of the German Alpine Club (DAV) e. V. is a section of the German Alpine Club (DAV). The Munich- based section, founded in 1902, is (as of December 31, 2018) with 946 members one of the smaller sections of the German Alpine Club .
history
The Highland Section of the DAV was founded on December 23, 1902 in the Munich Hofbräuhaus . Founding member was u. a. the painter Rudolf Reschreiter .
Over the years, the Section acquired or built several mountain huts. First the Hochlandhütte was built in 1909, the Arnspitzhütte followed in 1910. The Soiernhaus and the Hans-Mertel-Hütte (also Unteres Soiernhaus) were leased in 1920 by the Bavarian State Forests . The Hans-Mertel-Hütte is operated together with the Bavarian Mountain Rescue Service . The last lease hut followed in 1924, the Mühltalalm.
The Blaueishütte was built in 1922, burned down by arson in 1946 and was destroyed by an avalanche shortly after being rebuilt in 1955. The section had to give up the location due to financial bottlenecks and the Berchtesgaden section built the new Blaueishütte.
Members of the Hochland section undertook several expeditions, including the German-Soviet Alai-Pamir Expedition in 1928, which was the first ascent of Lenin Peak (7134 m). During the German-American expedition in 1932, the Rakhiot Peak (7070 m) could be climbed for the first time.
The section offers a tour program with around 20 to 30 courses and tours per year. In addition, the section has an extensive children's and youth program. The members of the section regularly take part successfully in climbing competitions.
