Semka Sokolović-Bertok

Semka Sokolović-Bertok (born December 22, 1935 in Sarajevo , † March 4, 2008 in Zagreb ) was a Yugoslav or Croatian actress .

Life

In addition to her work at a theater in Zagreb, she became known through numerous film roles. Among other things, she worked in the 1967 television film Kineski zid (a film adaptation of Max Frisch's play The Great Wall of China ). She also played a supporting role in La Corta notte delle bambole di vetro (1971, director: Aldo Lado , German title: Todessyndrom ), in which Ingrid Thulin and Mario Adorf played the leading roles.

In the TV series Roko i Cicibela (Roko and Cicibela, 1978, director: Stipe Delić ) she played the leading female role. She played one of the main roles (as the school principal) in the satirical film Majstori, majstori! (1980, directed by Goran Marković ). She was last seen in cinemas in German-speaking countries in the film Esma's Secret - Grbavica (2006, director: Jasmila Žbanić ).

In her youth, Semka Sokolović-Bertok successfully took part in chess tournaments at republic level ( Croatia ), she became eight-time Croatian chess champion. She was married to Mario Bertok , an international chess master .
