Localization of Bavaria in Germany

The Unterringingen transmitter ( radio transmission center Unterringingen 1 ) is a 124 m high transmission tower owned by Deutsche Telekom AG in the Hohenaltheim community in the Donau-Ries district in Bavaria .

It is located between Hohenaltheim and Amerdingen -Bollstadt on the Rauhe Wanne elevation at an altitude of 609  m above sea level. NN on the southern edge of the Nördlinger Ries .

The type tower (FMT 6) made of reinforced concrete was built in 1969 as part of a radio link from Frankfurt am Main to Munich. It has three platforms at heights of 65 m, 74 m and 84 m, with an operating floor between the two upper platforms. In addition to directional radio traffic and mobile communications , the location serves to broadcast the FM radio program Antenne Bayern .

In the place of the telecommunications tower there used to be a wooden observation tower for land surveying, which had to be demolished after a military aircraft collided with the tower. A memorial today commemorates the five officers who died in this accident on April 29, 1939.
