Wormer transmission tower

The Wormer transmission tower is the tallest structure in the Zaanstreek region in the Dutch province of Noord-Holland . The transmission tower in the Wormer district of the municipality of Wormerland is 144 meters high, including the transmission mast.

The almost 119-meter-high concrete tower was in 1970 commissioned by the Dutch communications company PTT established that these for telephone directional connections used. The transmission tower has three platforms for directional antennas and a so-called (glass) director's walkway above. The tower is part of the radio link network that the PTT had built between 1955 and 1976.

Since the regional broadcaster NH wanted to start terrestrial television broadcasting in January 2000 , an approx. 30 meter high transmission mast was installed on the tower in 1999. The transmission power was 200 kW .

The tower has been owned by Alticom since 2007 , who expanded it into a data center. In 2006, NOVEC became the new owner of the transmission tower on the transmission tower.

The transmission tower under Toren van Wormer is known to the locals .
