Sepp Nordegg

Sepp Nordegg , actually Josef Friedrich Tullio , (born August 12, 1913 in Salzburg , † May 13, 1984 in Vienna ) was an Austrian set designer and inventor of the cylinder turntable .

Life

Between 1948 and 1973 he worked as the technical director of the Burgtheater . The Burgtheater's stage was built according to his plans after the Second World War .

Nordegg was responsible for the technical equipment of numerous productions (including those of King Ottokars Glück and the end of 1955) during this period. From 1961 he taught at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. In 1949 he was entrusted with the technical support of the Bregenz Festival . Between 1960 and 1963 he was responsible for the technology of the Salzburg Festival .

The stage facilities of the Theater an der Wien , as well as stages in Warsaw , Cairo and Sydney were built according to his plans .

Sepp Nordegg was a founding member of the Austrian Theatertechnical Society (OETHG) in 1973.

His daughter Cécile Nordegg became a painter and actress.

He is buried in the Pötzleinsdorfer Friedhof (group A, row 2, number 14) in Vienna.
