Sepp Wejwar (born June 18, 1956 in Vienna ) is an Austrian journalist and author with a focus on the topics of beer and brewing culture. He markets himself under the personal brand “Der Biersepp”.

Life

Wejwar began his professional career in the early 1980s, during which he held various management positions in marketing, including at IKEA Austria, Diners Club Austria and at the French ski binding and ski boot manufacturer Salomon .

In the 1990s, Wejwar was a partner in an advertising and marketing agency with a focus on beverage marketing. The well-known slogan “If the kan Almdudler have, I'll go again!” Of the Austrian branded drink Almdudler comes from this agency . Wejwar is currently the owner of an agency that also specializes in beverage marketing.

Wejwar's Beer Sommelier and Master Beer keeper and deals in recent times, especially with the topics of beer and brewing culture . In addition to his work in beer marketing for breweries, he organizes beer seminars and beer tastings . He moderates press conferences, holds seminars and themed events of all kinds. As a lecturer at WIFI Vienna , Wejwar also teaches budding sommeliers on beer knowledge.

In 2014, the Institute for Beer Culture was founded , and Sepp Wejwar is still CVO today. In addition to traditional marketing and journalism activities , the institute primarily focuses on the independent and supra-regional training of BeerKeepers , who are trained in personal commitment to good and well-tended beer and a certain attitude.

Wejwar is editor-in-chief of the specialist magazine Genuss.bier.pur, which is published five times a year by the Austrian agricultural publisher . and the Internet platform BIERtaeglich.eu, an online daily newspaper for the beer industry. He writes for several internet media that deal with the beverage industry and gastronomy , including the web portal Captain Cork . He also works as a freelance editor for the daily newspaper Die Presse . and News magazine . In his capacity as a beer sommelier, he appears regularly on Austrian television on an ORF broadcaster as an expert on beer.

Das Österreichische Bierbuch was published in April 2009, beer combined in 2010 (together with Karl Schiffner ) and Cooking with and with beer in 2011 (together with Horst Sulzmann). Also in 2011, The Oxford Companion To Beer was published in New York , an international beer encyclopedia to which Wejwar has contributed several chapters, including the one on Austria . Wejwar's first book followed in 2013, devoted exclusively to the subject of craft beer : Large beers from small and large breweries: tested by the Biersepp; my life with craft beer .
