Sergei Grigoryev ( Russian Сергей Григорьев , English transcription Sergey Grigoryev ; born June 24, 1992 in Almaty ) is a Kazakh pole vaulter .

Career

Sergei Grigoryev gained his first international experience at the 2009 Youth World Championships in Bressanone , where he finished sixth with 5.00 m. The following year he won the silver medal behind his compatriot Nikita Filippow at the Junior Asian Championships in Hanoi with 4.95 m . In 2014 he took part in the Asian Games in Incheon , South Korea for the first time and was eliminated there without crossing a height. In 2015 he finished sixth with 5.40 m at the Asian Championships in Wuhan and ninth place at the Summer Universiade in Gwangju , where he crossed 5.15 m. Two years later he won the silver medal behind the Portuguese Diogo Ferreira at the Summer Universiade in Taipei with 5.50 m . At the beginning of September he won the Asian Indoor & Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat with a crossed 5.50 m. In 2018 he again took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta and finished fourth there with 5.40 m. In the following year he finished eighth at the Asian Championships in Doha with 5.51 m.

In 2016, Grigoryev became the Kazakh champion in the outdoor pole vault and in 2016 and 2017 in the hall.
