Sergei Wassiljewitsch Prjachin ( Russian Сергей Васильевич Пряхин ; born December 7, 1963 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player and coach .
Career
He began his active time in 1981 as a 17-year-old with Krylja Sowetow Moscow , for whom he played in the Soviet championship until 1989 , scoring 92 goals.
At the NHL Entry Draft in 1988 he was selected in the 12th round in 252nd position by the Calgary Flames . In 1989 he became the first Soviet who was allowed to play in the NHL , to the Flames, for whom he scored 11 scorer points in 46 games.
In 1991 Prjachin went to Switzerland for Zürcher SC , where he and his compatriot Wladimir Krutow were involved in the then sensational victory in the quarter-finals over HC Lugano . During the 1992/93 season he returned to Russia to Krylya Sovetov, but shortly afterwards played two more seasons at ZSC.
Between 1994 and 1998 he played four seasons with the Finnish club Espoo Blues , then one more with the Ōji Eagles in Japan. With the 1999/2000 season, the striker ended his active career in the Vysschaya League with his old club Krylya Sovetov, where he also looked after various teams from 2001 to 2014.
Prjachin has been appointed to the Soviet national ice hockey team several times . After a world title with the juniors in 1983 he participated in the World Ice Hockey Championships in 1987 in Austria and 1,990 in part in Switzerland, where his international career was crowned with a silver and a gold medal. He also took part in the Rendez-vous '87 and the Canada Cup in 1987 .
