Sergei Vladimirovich Sherwood ( Russian Сергей Владимирович Шервуд ; born December 1 . Jul / 13. December  1858 greg. In Moscow ; † August 17 jul. / 29. August  1899 greg. ) Was a Russian architect .

Life

Sherwood, eldest son of the architect and sculptor Vladimir Osipovich Sherwood , studied at the Moscow School of Painting with final 1889 as architecture - artists . He worked with his father in Moscow.

In 1894 Sherwood built an extension to Nikolai Church on Myasnitskaya Ulitsa (not preserved). In 1895 he began the project to build the Church of the Exaltation of the Cross in Darna near Istra in the neo-Russian style. He did not see the completion in 1900. At the same time he built the Cathedral of Our Lady of Kazan in the Kazan Ambrosius Women's Hermitage (Shamordino, Kaluga Governorate ) . In 1897 he built for Wilhelmine Reck, wife of the banker Jacob Reck , the neo-baroque Villa Reck with the lions (Pjatnitskaja Uliza 64) and another villa (Novokusnezkaja Uliza 44), which was rebuilt in 1910. Sherwood built a house in 1899 (Miljutinski Pereulok 13, completed 1900) for the Moscow stock corporation for trade and construction of the banker Jacob Reck. Sherwood's project for the construction of the church of Tikhon of Sadonsk in Klin was not realized until 1907-1909. The church was closed in 1924. In 1990 it was reopened and dedicated to the Patriarch Tikhon .
