Sergio Bergamelli (born August 16, 1970 in Alzano Lombardo ) is a former Italian ski racer . Like his younger brothers Giancarlo , Norman and Thomas , he was a specialist in giant slalom and slalom .

biography

Bergamelli first appeared internationally at the Junior World Championship in 1988 when he won the silver medal in the giant slalom. The following year he was junior world champion in slalom and won the giant slalom bronze medal. In the 1988/89 season he finished fifth in the overall ranking of the European Cup , in the 1989/90 season fourth.

On November 23, 1991 Bergamelli won his first points in the World Cup when he reached eleventh place in the Park City giant slalom . A few weeks later, on January 5th, 1992, he won the giant slalom in Kranjska Gora . He finished the 1991/92 World Cup season in eighth place in the giant slalom classification. However, he could not confirm these performances in 1992/93 and in 1994 he was out for most of the year due to an injury.

In the years that followed Bergamelli was regularly among the top 20, but he could no longer keep up with the world's best, so that he was often used in the European Cup and FIS races . In spring 2001 he announced his resignation. In his three participations in the Olympic Games and World Championships, he never got beyond a 16th place.
