The slashed striped fern ( Asplenium fissum ) is a species of the genus of the striped fern ( Asplenium ). It only thrives in Europe on more or less calcareous soils .

description

The slashed striped fern is a perennial herbaceous plant and reaches heights of 10 to 25 centimeters. The scales on the rhizome are black. The fronds are three to four times pinnate. The last leaflet section is linear-wedge-shaped and usually not wider than 0.5 millimeters. The leaf blade usually has a blunt tip. The leaf veins can only be seen indistinctly. The petiole is as long as or longer than the blade. It has a green color, the ground is brown. The thickness of the stem is one millimeter. The spores ripen in July and August.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 72.

distribution

The slashed striped fern occurs only in Europe. In Central Europe it occurs only in Bavaria , Lower Austria , Upper Austria , Styria and Switzerland . In southern Europe it is found in south-eastern France , Italy , Slovenia , Croatia , Bosnia , Serbia , Montenegro , Albania , Macedonia , Greece and Bulgaria .

It grows in limestone and dolomite crevices and on scree and occurs only on more or less calcareous soils. It occurs from the montane to the alpine altitude range . In the plant sociological system , it occurs in the following societies: Moehringio-Gymnocarpietum robertiani (Petasition paradoxi), Cystopteridion fragilis, Rumicetum scutati (Stipion calamagrostis).
