Serif is a software company founded in 1987 in Nottingham , Great Britain, that develops and markets software for publishing , graphic design and image editing for PCs and Apple products. Distribution is mainly done via online marketing .
history
Serif was founded by a small team of developers to create a low - cost desktop publishing (DTP) package for Windows users. In 1990 PagePlus came out with version 1. Until it was discontinued, it was the flagship software suite. After more than 20 years of software development for Windows, Serif founded a small research and development team in 2009 that dealt with the implementation of software for the Mac. This is how Serif Labs was born , whose designers and developers created the new Affinity brand .
In October 2014, the Affinity Designer app was published in the Mac app store. In June 2015, Serif received the Apple Design Award for the app . In July 2015, work on Affinity Photo began . In 2016 both apps were released for Windows with version 1.5. The third Affinity program, the Affinity Publisher DTP software, was released on June 19, 2019 . The three products compete with the corresponding Adobe programs, but only have to be purchased once for a comparatively low price, which also includes the program updates.
