Serigne Modou Kara Mbodj (commonly known as Kara Mbodj or just Kara ) (born November 11, 1989 in Diasse ) is a Senegalese football player . The central defender is currently under contract with Al-Sailiya in Qatar.
Career
Kara Mbodj played for Diambars de Saly in his youth , from where he moved to Tromsø IL in February 2010. There he made his debut on March 28, 2010 in the Tippeligaen when he was substituted on for the game against Kongsvinger IL . In January 2013 he moved to Belgium for KRC Genk and signed a three and a half year contract. RSC Anderlecht bought it on August 7, 2015 for 4.5 million euros. There Kara Mbodj signed a four-year contract.
On August 30, 2018, one day before the closing of the 2018 summer transfer window, he switched to French first division club FC Nantes on loan for the 2018/19 season . Nantes then has an option to buy. This purchase option was not exercised by Nantes in January 2019. Kara was then used again in the RSC Anderlecht squad in the second half of the season.
On July 20, 2019, Kara signed a contract with Al-Sailiya in Qatar for a period of three years.
National team
In May 2018, Kara Mbodj was appointed by Aliou Cissé to the Senegalese squad for the 2018 World Cup . He was one of three field players, alongside Adama Mbengue and Moussa Sow , who were not used.
