The Sesserant is a river in France that runs in the Doubs department in the Bourgogne-Franche-Comté region . It is 3 kilometers long and generally drains in a northeastern direction. The importance of the Sesserant arises only from its tributary Audeux , which is around 24 kilometers long and has a much larger catchment area .
geography
course
The Sesserant rises in the northwestern foothills of the Jura , in the municipality of Silley-Bléfond , from a karst spring . It is not far from the Bléfond mill. The spring water comes from Audeux, which at times completely seeps away below La Grâce-Dieu monastery . When the water level is higher, the Audeux reaches the Sesserant above ground and flows into it about 130 m below the Source du Sesserant as a 24 km long tributary.
After its source area, the Sesserant flows through the Cuves de Bléfond gorge , where it falls over the Saut du Sesserant waterfall . Below Pont-les-Moulins , it flows into the Cusancin as a left tributary .
