Shamar Amaro Nicholson (born March 16, 1997 in Kingston ) is a Jamaican football player who has been under contract with the Belgian first division club RSC Charleroi since August 2019 . The striker has been a Jamaican international since February 2017 .
Career
society
Nicholson began his career in his Jamaican homeland with Boys' Town FC in the capital Kingston . He has played in the first team since the 2014/15 season, where he made his breakthrough in the 2016/17 season when he finished second in the top scorer list with 15 goals in 30 league games.
In September 2017 he joined the Slovenian association NK Domžale . In the first division he made his debut after starting difficulties on March 6, 2018 (21st match day) in the 4-0 away win against NK Ankaran , when he was substituted on for Lovro Bizjak in the 79th minute of the game . In the course of the second half of the season he established himself as a substitute and at his first start on April 18 (20th matchday) in the 1-0 home win against NK Celje , he scored his first goal for Domžale. He was then regularly used in the first team and ended the 2017/18 season with five goals in 15 league appearances.
He lost this status for the time being in the next 2018/19 season . In November he scored a brace each within three days of the games against NK Olimpija Ljubljana and ND Gorica . As a result, he established himself again as a regular player and closed the season with 13 goals in 29 league games.
After Shamar Nicholson started the next 2019/20 season at NK Domžale and had already played six competitive games, he moved to the Belgian first division club RSC Charleroi on August 13, 2019 . The Walloon club secured the services of the striker for a transfer fee of 1.5 million euros and provided him with a four-year contract. He scored in his debut game on August 31, 2019 (6th matchday) in the 4-0 away win against Waasland-Beveren . As a result, he quickly established himself as a regular in the storm . During this season he completed 25 league games in which he scored eight goals and prepared another goal.
National team
Shamar Nicholson took part in the 2015 CONCACAF U-20 Championship with the Jamaican U20 national team, where he played a game.
On February 4, 2017, Shamar Nicholson made his debut in the 1-0 defeat in the friendly international game against the United States for the A-selection when he came on for Cory Burke in the 83rd minute of the game . He scored his first international goal on June 6, 2019 in a 1-0 win in the friendly against the USA.
With Jamaica he took part in the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup , where he was used in all five games and scored two goals. He achieved this in the 1-1 draw against Curaçao in the group stage and in the 3-1 defeat against the United States in the semifinals, which meant the elimination of the Reggae Boyz from the tournament.
