Shane Carwin (born January 4, 1975 in Greeley ; full name Shane Bannister Carwin ) is a former American mixed martial arts fighter . His MMA competition stats are twelve wins, all in the first round, and two losses.

Career

The 188 cm tall heavyweight Shane Carwin grew up in Colorado, where he attended Western State College and the Colorado School of Mines . He was active as a football player and also won several wrestling titles .

He then began a career in mixed martial arts. His first official competition he carried out on October 14, 2005 at World Extreme Cagefighting , where Carlton Jones had to give up in the first round against him. Also by giving up in the first round, he defeated his next opponents: Casey Jackson on March 18, 2006 in Extreme Wars 2 - X-1 and Jay McCown in Ultimate Texas Showdown 5 on April 29, 2006. He should also all of his other fights in win the first round. So against Justice Smith by technical knockout at Extreme Wars 3 - Bay Area Brawl on June 3, 2006, against Chris Guillen by giving up at the Ultimate Texas Showdown 6 on June 24, 2006 and Rick Slaton by knocking out the Ring of Fire 30 - Domination from September 15, 2007. After Shane Carwin forced his opponent Rex Richards to surrender on October 27, 2007 at Art of War 4 and defeated Sherman Pendergarst by TKO on December 1, 2007 at Ring of Fire 31 - Undisputed , he switched to the Ultimate Fighting Championship .

Carwin had his first UFC fight on May 24, 2008 at UFC 84 - Ill Will . He defeated Christian Wellisch by TKO. At UFC 89 - Bisping vs. Life on October 18, 2008, he defeated Neil Wain by TKO. He completed his third UFC fight on March 7, 2009 at UFC 96 - Jackson vs. Jardine . There he defeated Gabriel Gonzaga by TKO.

At UFC 111 - St. Pierre vs. Hardy on March 27, 2010 Shane Carwin competed against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir . He defeated Mir by knockout in the first round and became UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion . Thus, his next fight was set on July 3, 2010 against the reigning heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar . Carwin had to give up in the second round against Lesnar.

At UFC 125, Carwin was supposed to play against Roy Nelson, but he had to cancel this fight due to back problems. Carwin took a longer break because of the injury. However, the operation was successful, which is why Carwin announced his return.

At UFC 131, Carwin came back to represent the injured Brock Lesnar, but was defeated by his opponent Junior Dos Santos, who won by a unanimous decision. In 2013, Carwin announced the end of his MMA career after several injuries.
