Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize

The Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology (SSB, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology) is a prize awarded annually by the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) of India for research in the fields of biology, chemistry, and earth sciences , Engineering, math, physics and medicine.

It is endowed with 5 lakh (500,000 Indian rupees) in each of the areas and is awarded to Indian scientists up to the age of 45 (in the year prior to the award of the award) for research in the past five years. The prize was first awarded in 1958. There can be more than one award winner in each category, but with rare exceptions this was a maximum of two. The award is given by the Prime Minister of India.

It is named after the founder of the CSIR, the chemistry professor Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar (1894–1955).
