The Shatskiy Hill ( Russian Гора Шатского Gora Schatskowo ; Norwegian Šatskijtoppen ) is a 2705 m high hill in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . In the Weyprecht Mountains of Hoelfjella it rises up in the Dekefjellrantane group .
The mountain was discovered and mapped using aerial photographs during the German Antarctic Expedition (1938–1939) under the direction of Alfred Ritscher . Further mapping was carried out using aerial photographs and measurements taken by the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960). Soviet scientists carried out a new mapping and naming on a research trip that lasted from 1960 to 1961. It is named after the Soviet geologist Nikolai Sergejewitsch Schatski (1895–1960). In 1970, the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names adapted the Russian name to English.
