Sherida Spitse (born May 29, 1990 in Sneek ) is a Dutch soccer player . Since 2018 she has been playing for the Norwegian first division club Vålerenga Oslo . Since January 19, 2019, she has been the record national player for the Netherlands.

Until the end of the 2006/07 season Spitse played in the male youth of their Frisian home club VV Sneek. With the introduction of the women's honor division , the midfielder moved to SC Heerenveen . There she made 20 games in her first season at the age of 17, in which she scored three goals; in the following season there were 24 games and five goals. In 2012 Spitse moved to FC Twente Enschede . From 2014 to 2017 she played for Lillestrøm SK Kvinner in the Norwegian first division, where she celebrated the double of championship and cup victory three times in a row from 2014 to 2016. After another season at FC Twente Enschede, Spitse moved to Vålerenga Oslo at the beginning of 2018 .

National team

In 2005 Spitse played in the U-15 team of the KNVB , in 2006 at the age of 15 in the U-17 national team. She was only 16 when bond coach Vera Pauw called the young Friesian into the senior national team for the first time later that year . On August 31, 2006 she made her debut in the Leeuwinnen team in London in the 4-0 defeat against England in the World Cup qualification . By September 2009, she made a total of 35 internationals in which she scored one goal. At the EM 2009 she was part of the semi-finalist's squad, but was not used. On February 7, 2015, she made her 100th international match in a 7-0 win against Thailand and scored the first goal. In 2017 she led the national team as captain to the European championship. In qualifying for the 2019 World Cup, in which she did not miss a minute in her team's 12 games, she and her team had to make it to the playoffs of the best runners-up in the group, where they prevailed against EM final opponents Denmark and Switzerland . In the last playoff game against Switzerland, she set the Dutch international record for Annemieke Kiesel with her 155th international match. In the first game of 2019 in Cape Town , she became the sole record holder of the Netherlands against South Africa.

On April 10, 2019, she was nominated for the World Cup. At the World Cup, she was always in the starting line-up in seven games by the Dutch and was only substituted in the 70th minute in the group final against Canada . After six wins, the Dutch only lost in the final against defending champions USA . The Dutch had already qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time when they reached the semi-finals .
