Shin Tae-Yong (born October 11, 1970 in Yeongdeok ) is a former South Korean football player and current coach. He is the coach of the Indonesian national team .

Player career

In his playing days Shin played for Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma and the Australian club Brisbane Roar .

Coaching career

After his playing career Shin hit a career as a coach. He initially worked as an assistant coach for his previous clubs Brisbane Roar and Seongnam Ilhwa Chunma . Between 2010 and 2012 he was primarily responsible for Seongnam as coach and won the AFC Champions League with the club in 2010 .

From 2014 Shin held various positions, including youth coach and assistant coach, for the South Korean association. In July 2017 he was appointed national coach and qualified with the team for the 2018 World Cup . At the tournament he was eliminated with the team after the preliminary round. In August 2018, Shin was replaced by Paulo Bento after his contract expired . At the end of 2019 he signed a 4-year contract with the Indonesian Football Association and has been coaching the Indonesian national team ever since .
