Park Sung-hwa (born May 7, 1955 in Ulsan ) is a former South Korean football player and current coach . He spent his career in South Korea , most recently playing at Pohang POSCO Atoms . As a coach, he was active in various positions at various clubs from 1988 to 2015. In his coaching career, he has won several titles. Most recently he was the coach of Gyeongnam FC .

Park Sung-hwa went to Pohang POSCO after college . He stayed there until late 1979, before moving to Yukgun FC in early 1980 . He stayed there until 1982. In 1983 he announced that he would move to Hallelujah FC in the newly founded K League . With the club he was able to win the first championship of the K League. In 1984 , however, he only reached 4th place with his team. After the club was last in 1985 and broke up at the end of the season, he moved to Pohang POSCO Atoms . For Hallelujah FC he played 37 games up to the last matchday and scored 9 goals. In 1986 he was first in the first half of the season with POSCO. In the championship final they played against Lucky Goldstar Hwangso and won 2-1. This was the second time in his career that he was champion. In 1987 he finished second with his team and was unable to defend the title. At the end of the season he also ended his career as a player.

National team

In 1974 he was invited to the U-20 national team. The following year he became a national player in the 1st team. by 1984 he played 103 games and scored 26 goals. The highlight of his national team career was gold at the Asian Games in 1978 .

Career as a coach

After he had finished his career as a player, Pohang POSCO Atoms signed him as a trainer at their junior academy . He stayed at Pohang POSCO Atoms from 1988 to 1989. In 1989 he moved to Hyundai Horang-i and became an assistant coach there. In 1992 he moved on to Yukong Elephants . There he also became an assistant coach. From mid-1992 he was promoted to coach and headed the team until 1994. After his contract expired, he did not return to Pohang Steelers until 1996 . During the time there, he was always close to a title, but couldn't win a title. In 2001 he became the coach of the U-20 national team of South Korea . From 2003 to 2004 he was also assistant coach of the South Korean national team . In 2005 he finished his work in the U-20. He didn't find a job again until 2007. In 2007 he became the coach of Busan IPark . He didn't have the job for long, however, as he became the coach of the U-23 national team in the middle of the season . He was employed there until 2008. In 2010 he went to China to Dalian Shide . There he stayed until 2011. In 2011 he left the club for Myanmar to join their national team . Until the end of 2013 he was the responsible trainer there. In 2013 he did not renew the contract and went back to South Korea . It wasn't until 2015 that Gyeongnam FC signed him again as a coach. At the end of the season, however, he was released again.
