Shlomi Elkabetz

Shlomi Elkabetz ( Hebrew שלומי אלקבץ; * December 5, 1972 in Be'er Scheva ) is an Israeli film director , actor , film producer and screenwriter .

Life

Shlomi Elkabetz was born in 1972 as the son of Moroccan Jews in Be'er Scheva. His sister was the actress Ronit Elkabetz . Another brother is the actor Yechiel Elkabetz . He spent most of his childhood in Kirjat Yam . He studied acting and photography in New York . He lives with his partner in Tel Aviv-Jaffa and has a daughter.

Together with his older sister Ronit, Shlomi Elkabetz realized the trilogy Separate Paths , Shiva and Get - The Process of Viviane Amsalem . The two siblings each wrote the script and directed it together. Ronit also took on the respective female lead. In particular, the last part of the trilogy was particularly well known and recognized. The film was shown for the first time at the 2014 Cannes International Film Festival in the side series Quinzaine des Réalisateurs . At Film Festival of Jerusalem in 2014, he received three awards including the Haggiag Award for Best Israeli film. The film was nominated for the 2015 Golden Globe Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

In 2019, he played the role of Schin Bet employee Simon in the television series Our Boys .
