description

Sideritis leucantha is a perennial plant that can grow to a height of 30 cm and is gray or white with fine tomentose hair. The leaves are 7 to 15 mm long and 2 to 6 mm wide. They are linear to inversely ovoid, their edge is whole to roughly toothed or slightly lobed.

The inflorescences are pseudo whorls of three to twelve (rarely up to 14) are mostly apart and consist of two to six flowers . The lower bracts are 4 to 10 mm long and 6 to 8 mm wide and are therefore roughly similar in length to the calyx . They are heart-shaped-lanceolate to almost circular, their edge is slit-toothed. The calyx is 4 to 9 mm long and has a ring of trichomes on the inside. The calyx teeth are green and hairy to tomentose. The crown is 7 to 10 mm long, is usually white or less often pale to dark yellow in color and sometimes has dark brown or purple markings on the inside.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 26 or 28 + 3B.
