Sießen im Wald is a part of the community Schwendi in the district of Biberach in Upper Swabia . Since 1972 Sießen in the forest has belonged to the community of Schwendi.

history

The former community of Sießen im Wald was never a closed village, but still consists of the hamlets of Hörenhausen and Jetzhöfe, Weihungszell with Grubach and the parish hamlet of Sießen.

Weihungszell was first mentioned in a document in 845 in connection with a donation to the St. Gallen monastery . In 1353 the place appears as Wiggenzell . Weihungszell is said to have been depopulated after the Thirty Years' War , and immigrants from Tyrol settled here in the period that followed.

Weihungszell and Hörenhausen used to belong to Dietenheim , which passed into the possession of the Krafft family in Ulm in the 15th century, and then to the Fuggers in the 16th century . In 1806 Dietenheim became Bavarian and in 1819 together with Ulm became Württemberg. Grubach belonged to Rot and the Jetzhöfe to Orsenhausen . In 1832 Hörenhausen and Weihungszell were separated from the community of Dietenheim, the Jetzhöfe von Orsenhausen and Grubach von Rot and united to form the independent political community of Sießen im Wald. On January 1, 1972, it was incorporated into Schwendi.
